Kent Police decided to offer a keyholder management scheme where companies in the Kent area who didn’t have an on-site security guard could register their keyholder details with the Keylink system for a small annual fee. Should anything untoward happen with their property, the keyholder would be notified by the Police immediately.

The work to build the online system was a programming challenge, making a system that could communicate with Police Command and Control centres through tricky firewalls was a difficult task. After the initial success of the business scheme the web system was adapted to accept residents joining the scheme and adding their holiday dates.

The scheme also required naming, branding, collateral production, and promotional merchandise.
